Grady’s Freedom 255 a Versatile Dual-Console
Grady-White continues to fill the niches in dual-console family/fishing boats with its new Freedom 255. The boat slots in between the Tournament 225 and the Tournament 275. Like its sisters, the 255 rides softly on Grady’s able, dry SeaV2 hull, and matches up well with one of Yamaha’s light, powerful 250-300 hp V-6 four-stroke outboards. Expect a top speed in the low to mid-40s, with a comfortable, efficient cruise in the 20-32 mph range.
The 255 is large enough to head offshore at dawn, get a scrub and washdown in the afternoon, and take a party of up to 8 out for a sunset picnic. With the optional electric grill behind the helm chair, it can even help feed the crew.
Other amenities include a comfortable forward cockpit, a head with portable toilet or china unit with holding tank in the port console, cavernous storage, and a fold-down transom seat. Useful options include a sturdy hardtop that can carry outriggers, a back-to-back companion seat that folds down to a sleeper seat, a table in the bow, a ski pylon, and a 27-gallon lighted live well. This is a perfect boat for an active, water-loving family.
