EastBayRI.com: With the aid of heavy equipment—adult beach toys—South Shore Beach [in Little Compton, Rhode Island] is getting spruced up and racing to get ready for the spring opening over Memorial Day weekend, May 26, 27, and 28.

The beach got hammered last August by [Tropical Storm] Irene. [Irene], and another storm around the same time, overwhelmed Tuniper Pond, and about 100 yards to the west of First Creek had opened a breach from the pond to the ocean.
