BoatingLocal was on scene as the Pride of Baltimore and the Danish naval ship Esbern Snare arrived in Boston Harbor for the War of 1812 Bicentennial Celebration and Navy Week, amid much cannon firing and tight security. The celebration continues through July 5, and there is no better way to watch it than from the water—as long as you respect the security zones and 5 mph speed limit.

If you want to watch the big 4th of July parade from your own boat, consider anchoring around the islands prior to the event, getting a slip at a local marina or launching at one of the 3 area ramps listed in the links below. The departure of the ships as they leave Boston on July 5 could also present a good viewing opportunity.

Happy Independence Day!
