Sunken Boat Sparks Fairhaven Shellfishing Closure
SouthcoastToday: The Massachusetts Department of Marine Fisheries has announced an emergency closure of shellfish beds in Fairhaven’s Nasketucket Bay following the discovery on Monday [April 22] of a 20’ fishing boat that had washed up in Jacks Cove on West Island.
The overturned boat, the same one from which 2 men were rescued by a Coast Guard helicopter on Sunday night, was leaking gas and oil when it was discovered behind Earl’s Marina.
