Oyster Farms Proposed to Clean Up Northport, NY

Times of Northport: Northport Trustee Tom Kehoe is promoting oyster aquaculture farming to remove excess nitrogen from Northport Harbor [on Long Island]. The method, he said, is being used successfully in Falmouth, Massachusetts, and it could make sense here as well.
It’s been well documented by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and other governmental agencies that oysters and other shellfish naturally filter pollutants from waters.
