New Haven, CT, to Hold Paddle Safety Day

The New Haven, Connecticut, Department of Parks, Recreation & Trees will offer a Paddle Safety Day from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Lighthouse Point Park, 2 Lighthouse Road.
Staff from the Coast Guard, certified canoe and kayak instructors from the city and a variety of representatives from the paddling industry and the DEP Boating Division will be on hand to answer questions.
Paddle Safety Day will include demos and discussions about sit-on-top and sit-inside touring kayaks, kayak fishing rigs, personal floatation devices, paddles, solo and tandem rescues, safety gear, clothing, self-rescue and choosing the right craft. There will also be interactive games at the Department of Environmental Protection trailer.
