Harbor Days photos by Tom Richardson

The Mattapoisett Lions Club will again host Harbor Days at Shipyard Park in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts, this coming weekend (July 15-16). Harbor Days is a celebration of summer and life on the South Coast, and is a great place to view and purchase photography, jewelry, paintings, framed charts, hand-carved birds, wind chimes, foods, spices, bags, clothing and other unique arts and crafts items made by local artists. (See the photo gallery below of scenes from last year’s Harbor Days.)

Live bands perform throughout the event, and there are burgers, hot dogs, churico, strawberry shortcake and more at the Lions Club tent. Or you can stroll across the street to the Kinsale Pub and Water Street Wine Bar for something to drink or eat.

Kids can climb aboard one of the town’s working fire trucks or take a lesson in rowing a whaleboat dory courtesy of Whaling City Rowing (www.whalingcityrowing.org). Harbor cruises will also be given aboard the Mattapoisett Boat Yard launch.

Boaters wishing to attend Harbor Days can tie up to the town floats for 30 minutes to pick up or drop off, or anchor behind Mattapoisett Neck. You can also call Triad Boatworks to see if one of their free moorings is available, or call the Mattapoisett Boat Yard.

The accompanying BoatingLocal feature will give you all the information you need to enjoy a visit by water to Mattapoisett. BoatingLocal: Focus on Mattapoisett, MA.
