Firefighters Get New Boats in Plymouth, Massachusetts
A 33-foot boat is the latest addition to the Plymouth, Massachusetts fire department, according to an article in the Patriot Ledger.
The boat can travel as fast as 53 miles-per-hour and is equipped with a pump capable of thrusting 1,000 gallons of water per minute. Federal grant money was used for the fire department’s boat and for a 29-foot patrol boat, added in December, for the harbormaster.
The boat will allow the state fire marshal and the state police bomb squad a floating platform for investigations at sea. The boat will also enable firefighters to battle fires on remote stretches of Saquish, the Gurnet, Clarks Island and Plymouth Beach.
