The Duxbury Bay Maritime School (DBMS) in Duxbury, Massachusetts, is holding an open house for its ACCESSAIL program this Saturday, June 10, from 3:00 to 6:00. The open house will allow prospective students to tour the facility and meet the staff, volunteers and other students. Sailing trips and a cookput are also planned.

ACCESSAIL is designed to get people with disabilities on the water, learning to sail on Duxbury Bay. No previous sailing experience is required, but participants must be 8 years old. Sailing is done on modified O’Day 23s designed to accommodate sailors with disabilities. Advanced students sail on 15’ Marshall Cats and 19’ Flying Scots. The school also has a special lift to get sailors in and out of the boats.

ACCESSAIL Information:

  • Rates: $25 per student, per sail
  • Season: June 9-August 26
  • Class time: 1 hour, 30 minutes
