CT to Present Aquifer Grants, Awards on Monday
Connecticut’s Attorney General George Jepsen and Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Commissioner Daniel C. Esty will present grants, awards for good works and the launch of new efforts to support local initiatives to protect aquifers at a ceremony this Monday, December 5 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. The presentation will take place at the DEEP Headquarters, 5th Floor Phoenix Auditorium, Hartford, CT.
Grants totaling $2.75 million from the settlement of environmental issues at the Old Southington Landfill site will be awarded to fund 2 projects that will help protect the quality of groundwater.
DEEP’s GreenCircle award will be presented to 1 business and 9 individuals to recognize their efforts to improve Connecticut’s environment.
A newly published Aquifer Protection Area Program Municipal Manual will be released and discussed with local officials engaged in aquifer protection efforts.
