The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission, the agency tasked with managing migratory coastal species within state waters, has voted down the proposal to increase the coastal commercial quota of striped bass.
Of the Northeast states, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey and Maine voted “no” to the proposed increase. New York and Rhode Island voted in favor of the increase. The final vote was 6 in favor, 9 opposed.
