Coast Guard members are scheduled to participate in the Madison Historical Society’s 200th anniversary of the War of 1812 commemoration in Madison, Connecticut, on Sunday, July 8, 2012.

Personnel from the Coast Guard Honor Guard Period Color Guard will perform the opening ceremony. Capt. James McPherson, Chief of Staff of First Coast Guard District, will introduce Capt. Eric Jones, commanding officer of the Coast Guard Cutter Eagle, who will talk about his experiences as the commanding officer of the Coast Guard Cutter Eagle. Capt. Steven Pope, War of 1812 Commemorative Plans and Liaison Officer, will tell the history of Madison’s founder, Capt. Frederick Lee, commanding officer of the Revenue Cutter Eagle.

Following the discussions, the Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard’s Silent Drill Team will perform.
