Coast Guard Responds to Injured Fisherman off Jonesport, ME
The Coast Guard medically evacuated a fisherman 12 miles south of Jonesport, Maine, at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Northern New England received a 911 relay at 9:25 a.m. from the 41’ fishing vessel Sandy Rose, homeported in Beals Island, Maine, reporting that a 47-year-old crewmember had severely injured his hand while hauling gear and was requesting assistance.
A Coast Guard Station Jonesport boat crew immediately launched and safely transferred the fisherman to waiting EMS at Station Jonesport. He was taken to Bangor Eastern Maine Medical Center.
