Classic Motorsailor Launched in Camden, ME
Knox Village Soup: More than 300 people gathered Wednesday, May 18, to celebrate the launch of Trade Wind, a John Alden-designed motorsailer, after a 3-year restoration by Rockport Marine.
The 62-foot Trade Wind was originally named Tsunami when it was built in 1938 at the Jacobs Yard in City Island, New York. At the time it was built, motorsailers were a common sight on the water.
When the current owners, Michael and Marcy Brenner, bought the boat, it had benefited from some repair work over the years, but was in need of an overhaul.
