Block Island Times: For years the bait dock in Old Harbor, at the end of the east dock, has been holding rotting bait and collecting garbage, which collectively produced an odor that caused most visitors to give the area a wide berth.

Recently Old Harbor dockmaster Josh Moore and assistant dockmaster Sean Corby, with help from a number of commercial fishermen, took it upon themselves to turn the once-noxious area into a clean, repurposed holding dock.

“You see those people there?” Corby asked Tuesday, gesturing to a couple sitting on the bait dock next to a couple bikes. “You would never see anyone hanging out down there before.”
