CTPost.com: A Coast Guard rescue helicopter located 3 people and a capsized boat in Long Island Sound about a mile southwest of Silver Sands Beach early Friday [June 29] after a lengthy search that began Thursday night, a Coast Guard official said.

John Olsen, the command duty officer of the Coast Guard’s Long Island Sound sector, said the crew of helicopter 6604 used night-vision goggles to locate the three people—who were all wearing life jackets—and they were then picked up by a Milford police boat. The police boat brought the boaters to a Coast Guard vessel, and they were taken to shore at the Birdseye Boat Ramp in Stratford, Olsen said.
