Dock Talk: Bad Fish Reports on Some Patriot’s Day Weekend Excitement
There were good reports from the salt this past weekend. Schooling stripers have been caught on many of the south facing beaches from Surf Drive all the way to Cotuit.

As of Sunday the best catches were reported in Popponessett Bay. Small imitations are best this time of year. Legendary distance caster and fishing fanatic Ron Arra was in the shop Sunday afternoon and reported small clouser minnows in chartreuse were the go-to flies for these early season fish.
The tautog are beginning to be caught in numbers throughout Buzzards Bay.
The commercial season opens today (April 16) so we should hear more on how steady the catch is in the coming days.
On the freshwater side of things, the trout and large mouth bass bite can’t be beat. Leave the powerbait at home and try some shiners or worms for better action on the trout.
For even hotter action try a wooley bugger in brown, olive, or black. No fly rod? No problem! Throw that fly out behind a bobber and twitch it back in with your spinning rod.
Bad Fish Outfitters will be reporting all season so check back often.
