Cape Cod Canal & Bay Report: 8.7.12
Jeff Miller of Canal Bait & Tackle sends this report for the Cape Cod Canal and Cape Cod Bay for August 7, 2012.
The Cape Cod Canal has been great every morning the past 2 days, a lot of small squid have been moving in on the morning hours. The fish are really targeting topwater lures. The best lure has been the Silver Ghost and bone-colored Super Strike Little-Neck Poppers.

There are still a ton of big fluke from the Canal all the way north to Plymouth Harbor. Use squid strips for bait and fish them on a Zing Tackle rig.

Cape Cod Bay is loaded with big bass in close to the West Bar of Barnstable Harbor. Live eels or the Tube-and-Worm have been the most effective, but the Savage Sand Eel Jig has been deadly in the shallow water. The best tube the past few days is the A and S Red Tubes.

The tuna bite has been on fire. A lot of big tuna are being caught out on Crab Ledge. A top lure has been the new Shimano Orca (these are ready to fish right out of the package).
