Buzzards Bay & Islands Report: 6.3.12
Capt. Corey Pietraszek of Plug n’ Play Charters filed the following report for Buzzards Bay and the islands:
Fished hard today [June 3] in very windy and wet conditions. The bigger bass are starting to move through the area, and this weather has them chubbed. Both fly anglers and spin fisherman have been doing exceptionally well with bigger patterns and larger lures.

These lures are Afterhours Needlefish not Needle Poppers. They are made special for Plug n' Play by Afterhours. Contact us at www.plugnplaycharters.com if interested in some.
Most of the activity has been at first light, which has coincided with the better part of the incoming tide. Start thinking about hitting the boulders and edges versus chasing birds.
White is my color of choice for all flies and lures when fishing in overcast and low-light conditions. We have been using the Hogy 7″ Original in white and Long Cast Plastic in 10″ pearl (when the bluefish aren’t around) and the fish have been hammering them. Some of the fish have been approaching 40 pounds, with most of them running 15 to 25 pounds. You have to love a good Nor’easter in June to turn the fish on big time!
