The schooner Bowdoin, built in 1921 in East Boothbay, is currently owned and operated by Maine Maritime Academy (MMA). It sails the coastal waters of Maine and Nova Scotia during the summer, carrying MMA students. Photo by Dylan Clark, Sea Tow Midcoast Maine.
Sea Tow Captain Dylan Clark, who patrols the waters in and around Boothbay Harbor, Maine, was on the water this week during Windjammer Days and captured these shots of the annual gathering of majestic schooners.
Clark is a Maine native who has been on the water since he was a teenager. A graduate of Maine Maritime Academy (MMA), he has crewed on various tall ships along the East Coast and Bermuda. He spends his winters sailing in warm-weather climates, including the South Pacific and the Caribbean. He has also sailed above the Arctic Circle aboard the MMA schooner Bowdoin.
Clark is also an avid photographer and keeps his camera close at hand wherever he goes. His work has appeared on several Web sites, including nytimes.com. In the fall of 2010, he began seasonal work with Sea Tow Portland-Midcoast Maine, which allows him to spend summers in Maine and winters traveling the globe.
